Off we went to Ueno Park. When I hear "park", I automatically think a small area -- Ueno Park is no small area. We probably could have spent all day there, but we didn't because we wanted to go to other places in the area.
We started off at the Ueno Zoo to mainly see the panda bears! We continued around the park to see a couple shrines and also the surrounding area where there are small ponds and gardens.
In the afternoon, we made our way to Asakusa to see Sensoji, a popular Buddhist template built in the 7th century. We read about the area before heading over, and a popular shopping area was noted in our travel book. Little did we know, it was this huge line of little shops and tons of people. Not really a peaceful place for a temple if you ask me, but more than a celebration. It was in Asakusa where we got closest to the new Skytree.
We then made a quick stop off in Akihabara, the vibrant electronic district of Tokyo. It was indeed overwhelming to see so many electronic stores, so we just picked one and spent a little bit of time in there. Five floors of electronics, and I bought a magnet. Yay. The electronics are actually more expensive there than Toronto, so that's another reason why I didn't buy anything. I saw some cool toys though!
