Day 09 - October 08, 2011

Santa Fé Island was today's location for our final full day at Galapagos. The land iguanas were the main attraction in the morning time as they are prehistoric-looking and large in size. The mangrove trees and cactuses also survive here in the harsh environment, as it is dry and not really lush with green. The land here was incredible to see as it was fairly flat and desert like, with small bushes growing here and there. Not as many animals and creatures today, but the environment itself made up for it.

One of many types of cactuses we saw on the trip. There were tall ones, short ones, and tree like ones that had a trunk and the cactus on top.

Land Iguana.

Galapagos Gull.

Aerial view.

The prickly pears of a cactus. When they dry up, they will fall off the branch to the ground, and the land iguanas will eat them.

Baby Galapagos Gull.

Red Billed Tropicbird. These guys were super fast so I was lucky to get a decent shot.

While travelling on the boat, we were lucky to see some manta rays jumping out of the water! We actually saw a little bit of a whale, so I ran to get my camera but it was gone by the time I got back, but saw the rays instead! We saw dolphins swimming along the boat earlier in the week as well.
